I have always felt like my heart was made to travel. I desired at an early age to travel the world. As I grown into an adult I noticed a pattern of restlessness. I moved quite a lot in my life. Give or take roughly around fifteen to twenty times. I figured after awhile the reason why I couldn’t get settled was that the world was my home. I was not made to stay put in just one place.
I grew up in the inner city of Chicago. The “Windy City,” was the nickname given. The wind gust can get really high, the highest recorded at 88 mph. I had memorable times with the “hulk,” that name given by myself and many other countless victims. I knew him all so well. I can remember times when the wind blew so hard it literally swept me off my feet, and not in a romantic way. Although the wind gust can be dangerous it help at times when the humidity level would rise in the summers.
The Chicago winters can be brutal and monstrous. In retrospect that may be one of the reasons why I left Chicago. The winters itself weren’t at all bad. In fact, when it snowed, it was the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen. It was the below zero temperatures that were my biggest challenge. There was a time that I actually flew in the air (about 10 feet) while caught in a blizzard, or what we called a snow storm. It was scary, but it’s one of the reasons I will never forget home.
Chicago’s strongest measured wind gusts are 88 mph at Midway Airport during a midnight derecho on Aug.26, 1965, and 84 mph at O’Hare International Airport, clocked in a severe thunderstorm on March 27, 1991.

I am very passionate about traveling because it means so much more to me. Travel helps define who you are and helps cultivate who you become. We’ve all heard the saying you become the product of your environment. Travel is the environment I choose to become a product of. I started my travel journey here in my home town. Thank you Chicago a.k.a Chi Town for beautiful experiences, wonderful memeories, and humble beginnings.
